About Bengali Association Singapore
Bengali Association Singapore (BAS) is a non-profit, socio-cultural society, not a registered charity. Founded in 1956, it has more than 2,000 member families. BAS celebrates and preserves Bengali culture in Singapore through festivals such as Durga Puja and Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti, and through community outreach and social gatherings. Its aim is to serve the local community and strengthen ties with Singapore’s wider community, welcoming people of all backgrounds to experience its traditions.
Access to our Durga Puja celebrations
- Debi Darshan is free for everyone. No ticket or entry fee is needed for anyone coming only to view and pay respects to the Goddess.
- Tickets are only for the designated programme area, which has seating, food and cultural performances. Day tickets include lunch at no extra charge.
- Members help cover event costs through their subscriptions.
- Non-members pay a nominal admission fee that shares part of the cost. Ticket revenue covers only a fraction of the infrastructure and event costs.
- Community guests, including school teachers, students and elderly residents, are invited free of charge, with guided tours.
BAS is committed to a welcoming, inclusive and safe celebration, while meeting the practical costs of a large community event.
